Needed

I was teaching swim lessons today and I had gotten out of the water because my lesson was over. I heard a kid scream and saw her go under. I had a cup of coffee in my hand... so I dropped it and grabbed a guard tube and went in for her. I got her and all was good. Her mom like all the moms of the kids Ive pulled out was saying thank you and all that stuff. But you... I hate that the little girl had to get scared, but it was so nice to feel like I was needed. And sure, there were other guards and they could have gotten her had I not been there, but it was nice to feel like I was needed and appreciated. Not just sitting by the side "just in case." Dont know where that came from... just thought Id share :)
